The New England Patriots have waived cornerback Jack Jones.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported the news Monday afternoon.
The move comes a day after Jones saw a career-low 18% of defensive snaps against the Indianapolis Colts during a 10-6 loss in Germany. Jones' decrease in playing time was not due to performance, however.
Per multiple reports, Jones missed team curfew before a game against the Washington Commanders on Nov. 5. Sources told Boston Sports Journal's Mike Giardi that "Jones' behavior/engagement this past week and in Germany wasn't to the level the team had hoped after his [incident before the Commanders game]," which led to him not seeing the field as much, and eventually being released.
Jones has had other brushes with trouble while with the Patriots, which also could have contributed to the move. In June, Jones was arrested on gun charges and was later sentenced to one year of probation.
Much of Jones' troublesome behavior and dissatisfaction with his team was visible to the public. Jones caused a stir on social media after liking a post suggesting that he should have pled guilty to his gun charges rather than play for the 2023 Patriots, who are currently sitting at 2-8.

Jones' off-field conduct has been a cause for concern since before he entered the NFL. In the summer of 2018, he was arrested for robbing a Panda Express at 3 a.m. The Patriots were aware of the risk, but they drafted Jones anyway.
In his rookie year, Jones played phenomenally, most memorably recording a pick-six against quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was on the Green Bay Packers at the time.
Jones also recorded an incredible interception against the Detriot Lions the following week.

Jones undoubtedly possesses phenomenal talent, and he has the potential to be a impactful player on whatever team he joins. Hopefully he can overcome this setback and have a successful career in the NFL.
